A couple of random things for you to ponder this morning:

Is there such a thing as a gimmick? I mean, I know one when I see one, but I think they're more often than not an attempt at starting a new tradition, or way of doing things. Basically, a one-off is a gimmick (the first iPod), but the repetitions give it its reputation (iPhone, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPod Shuffle...).

Do stupid-looking dogs know they look stupid? For that matter, does any other living being experience self-consciousness?
